History: In the early days of after-dark baseball, before stadium lights got bright enough to rival the sun, many teams experimented with making the players more visible from the grandstands — usually by tinkering with their uniforms. When Jackie Robinson joined the Brooklyn Dodgers, one of the jerseys he was issued was powder blue and made from a shiny satin material designed to reflect the light of Ebbets Field.
