The Story

JERSEY HONORING GREG MADDUX'S TIME WITH THE PEORIA CHIEFS

History:
An eight-time All-Star and four-time Cy Young award winner (among many other accolades), Greg Maddux is widely considered the greatest pitcher of his generation. In 1995 he led the Atlanta Braves to a World Series championship with a 19–2 record and a 1.63 ERA, one of the best seasons of pitching ever witnessed in modern baseball. But before his Hall of Fame stint with Atlanta, he was drafted by the Cubs right out of high school, and first took the field as a pro for the Peoria Chiefs — a minor league club in Chicago's farm system. In his 1985 season, wearing the Chiefs' red and blue, Maddux threw 125 strikeouts, setting the stage for a truly remarkable career.

Made from a polyester knit fabric with a sturdy hand-feel and a tackle twill appliqué logo, this jersey pays homage to the time Greg Maddux spent with the Peoria Chiefs minor league team.
